Guillaume Adjutor Provost holds a doctorate in art studies and practices from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). His practice experiments with forms of exhibition, collections, text, and curation. His recent projects feature hybrid proposals that borrow from the languages of visual arts, curating, and literature. Through a certain indeterminacy of form, Adjutor Provost’s production probes the manifestations of the unconscious, the notion of function, and the constructs of ideals. More specifically, his work is about what lies at the periphery of history: counterculture, personal archives, queer theories, and science fiction. His practice regularly takes the form of curated installations; by working with collaborators, these encounters influence the materialization of interdisciplinary works hybridizing collections, sculptures, drawings, photographs, performances, video or textual works.

As a recipient of grants from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Jean-Claude Rochefort Bursary in Contemporary Art, as well as the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Prize in Contemporary Art, and finalist for the Prix Pierre-Ayot of the city of Montreal in 2016 and 2019, Guillaume Adjutor Provost’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Canada, France, Germany, Austria, Catalonia, Belgium and Switzerland.
