Raqs Media Collective: Casebook.

Raqs Media Collective: Casebook. Art Gallery of York University, Toronto, 2014, 296 p. Ill. colour.

This book documents 80 works Raqs Media Collective (Jeebesh Bagchi, Monica Narula and Shuddhabrata Sengupta) produced between 2002 and 2012. From the outset, attention is given to this contemporary art trio’s approach. They describe their practice as a form of nomadic art, unable to be categorized or reduced to a limited definition. Their aim is to use their work as a means for kindling doubt. Accompanied by brief descriptions, the group’s creative works are presented here on elegantly styled and amply illustrated pages. As this sophisticated volume ultimately demonstrates, Raqs Media Collective is active across several disciplines, with projects extending to areas that include writing, curatorial work and collaborations with architects.
