Festival International de la Imagen, a major event in the digital and media art world, is held annually in Colombia, and celebrates its local and regional artistic community, as well as those of Latin origin from elsewhere in the world. Re:generative was the theme of the 24th edition held last May 2025 in Bogotà and Manizales. The director and curator, Felipe César Londoño—professor, researcher and Academic Vice-Rector at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano—founded the festival, in 1997, which currently features many exhibitions, performances, artist presentations and conferences. The international portion of this edition was guest-curated: Hyphen Hub, a New York-based cultural organization that Asher Remy-Toledo founded and directs, explored the workings at the intersection of art and technology. This year’s festival also included the sprawling international Media Art History conference.
With the concept of regeneration as a theme for reflection, the exhibition program was spread over several sites, both in Bogotà and Manizales, cities located 300 km apart. A range of works from established artists to student showcases was intended to show the public a generous variety of artworks that explore issues of sustainability, the environment, biodiversity and preservation.
